Great Stroller - I've tried 7 others Aug 23, 2010
I bought the Pilko P3 7 years ago and used it with two kids and then my friend used it after that. So this review isn't for this exact model but I can't imagine the Pilko P3 has chnaged much since.
I used it 6-10 times a week every week for 3 years. Which means I open and close it 12-20 times a week and it held up great! After researching strollers for hours and hours I was in limbo with one of those Graco (or similar brand) travel systems and this stroller. We decided on one of the Graco Travel systems and were very unhappy. The price tag is hard to beat but they are SO big, SO heavy, you need a forklift to get them in the car, you need an SUV to fit them, it was very hard to push, the wheels were squeaky right away, the fabric was ugly, it felt cheap, etc.
After seeing that, I returned it and spent the extra money for this stroller, and I am SOOOOO happy I did. The fabric looks great and I let my kids eat and drink in there all the time. I can't tell you how many bottles have leaked, cracker crumbs spilled, etc., etc. and I didn't had to do anything but wipe it a few times with wet wipes. I am not joking. The fabric did not tear and didn't look faded in the least. But I also always store it in doors.
It is light, and very easy to push and smooth smooth smooth! I am still amazed that it's everything - very plush, comfortable, light and compact. How'd they do it???? It was very comfortable for my 40 lbs. three year old and also very comfortable for my 20 lbs. one year old. It fit nicely in my small car, and my large SUV.
It has some things that could stand improvement and maybe they have with this model? There is no parent tray (annoying!) but if that's what I have to loose for this compact stroller I will. I just hung my purse over one of the handles and I didn't have any problems. It didn't seem to veer to one side when I did that either. I also hung my diaper bag over the back too. The drink holder for the parent is so small it doesn't hold the average water bottle and it broke off in 2 months - ANNOYING after paying so much. Instead I just tucked it into the huge sun canopy, as when it's not being used it formed nice large folds to store things in.
Also when I first bought it, the sun canopy kept unclipping on one side and I had to keep popping it back into place. I am almost 100% positive I had a defective hood as none of my friends had that problem.
All three of my friends who got the larger Graco ones regretted it, and one actually went and bought one of these.
The selling points for me are:
1) The HUGE sun canopy that is so large it can be pushed down all the way so as to cover your baby up completely so is perfect for when the sun in low in the sky and your walking towards it, or when it's windy. Nobody beats Peg Pergo and their sun canopies.
2) The recline. It reclines flat or almost flat and very easily.
3) Easy and smooth pushing.
4) Snack tray and cup holder that can unhook on one side so you can push it open for diaper changes - or come off completely if your child doesn't want it. My kids are snackers - so I don't buy a stroller unless it's got this feature.
5) Easy folding and light.
I LOVE Peg Perego's harness system that is 5point but also unhooks from the back of the seat so that they can sit forward. They are still hooked in to the 5 point system and still connected to the stroller, but they have much move movability without any danger or chance of escape. I LOVE this and so do my WIGGGGGGLY toddlers.
If the price tag is too much the Combi SoHo is awesome too!
I also love, love, love, love LOVE the Bob Stroller. I had one and almost prefer it over this.
It's adorable Aug 09, 2010
It's beautiful and it looks sturdy and good quality, but haven't been able to use it yet because baby hasn't arrived. Once baby is here, I'll review ease to use, functionality. In the meantime I just can say it looks fantastic and works perfect with the Primo Viaggio car seat (which also is Paloma). It just clicks and that's it.
Peg Perego Pliko Switch Aug 05, 2010
I bought Peg Peregro Pliko Switch in March 2010 and by July 2010 it completely broke down and I had to ship it back to Amazon. I realize it is not P3 but exactly the same but more expensive ($400) and has a feature of being able to switch the seat. Peg Perego strollers are made of plastic and can easily break if used on daily basis for daily or twice daily walks. First, one of the handles broke down and the screw fell off and got lost, my husband still managed to fix it. And second, slowly day by day it was getting harder and harder for my nanny to push the stroller and she would complain that it is very hard to push. My baby weighted 23-24 pounds at that time and the more he gained weight the more difficult it was getting to move the stroller. Its mobility was very poor. Finally, it got totally impossible to use and we had to ship it back to Amazon hoping for 50% refund of the original price, now I wish I could have sent it to Peg Perego to fix. Overall, the strollers from this brand are way too delicate and require a lot of care to survive beyond a couple of months. Also, the cup holder was a joke, and I was always scared that the stroller will virtually fall apart if I move it a bit faster or through gravel, etc. I recommend Chicco, it is very good quality, and maybe is not as pretty from esthetic point of view but is very good in endurance and ability to serve long time. I hade my Chicco travel system for almost a year now and it NEVER broke or gave me any trouble.
nice light weight stroller Jul 16, 2010
i tryed this out at babies r us before i bought it..
i have been through 4 different strollers before i found this one..
i love this stroller(so far)..i have had it for 1week.
i have the pepper color
its easy to move around, my daughter(10months) loves holding onto the child tray, she loves picking up her own sippy cup and putting it back...
i love the big canopy and how soft and padded it is for her. the big basket under neath,it hold alot of my shopping bags.i like that it has a carry handle.
i like that it is a fullsize stroller but it is also leight weight and easy to carry.
my only compliants with this is that the adult cup holder gets in the way when i push the stroller..it seems like the cup holder can only be used when you have the handle bars fully extended,( im 5'4" so i dont need to extend the handles)otherwise it gets in the way of your hand :( i wish you could roate or move the cup holder(like facing the side instead of facing you) so it wouldnt be in your way...
....also because some of the stroller is plastic im always worried that im gonna somehow break the stroller..either by pushing it around a corner too hard or thorwing it in the trunk. im sure it wont break but that still worries me..plus when i push the stroller it makes a creaking plastic sound..so that also makes me think im gonna break it..
besides those i really love this stroller and it was a good buy..
My son love his Pliko P3 Jun 30, 2010
The whole shipping and receiving is a different story by itself and that reflects mainly on FEDEX. We anxiously waited over 5 days, after it was shipped out on a 2 day service via FEDEX. The packaging we received it in was the original manufacture packaging. Even has the tags from UPS.
After unpacking, it was a little confusing to follow the instructions. There were no words in the instruction manual just confusing images of where to put what and where. Took me about 1/2 an hour to assemble. There was 1 questionable item not found in the instruction images. When reclining the seat all the way down, it stop at a certain point. Found a white plastic in each track that prevents the seat from reclining all the way down. Removed white plastics and was able to fully recline the seat.
To test it out, my family and I took to the mall that night. Instantly, my son preferred to stay in his Pliko P3 rather than be carried or go to his car seat. By the second day, when loading up, he would complain knowing he'll be leaving his Pliko and seating in his car seat instead.
My son fall's asleep sitting or laying down in the Pliko P3. He is very comfortable in there. No complains from him at all while in his Pliko P3.
One warning: It is mainly made of plastic. Eventually, the plastic will break down and break. So, don't look to reuse this product beyond maybe 5 years. Depending on the abuse it will take.
